Driving Knowledge Practice: California DMV & CDL

Choose between California Class C permit foundations and commercial-driver general knowledge. Both paths offer original practice with explanations, but their vehicle classes, rules and intended assessments differ. Start with the handbook and requirements that apply to your own license.

Check both the license class and the jurisdiction

The California DMV path covers California Class C written-knowledge foundations. It does not represent every US state. The CDL path covers selected general knowledge; it does not establish coverage of all state procedures, vehicle classes or endorsements. Do not use the two question sets as interchangeable preparation.

A preparation route for this goal

  1. 01

    Read the matching official handbook

Follow the official links in the exam guide and check the current rules for the state, license class and test you need.

  2. 02

Learn a rule before applying it

Use the lessons to understand the stated situation, then try the public questions and read the explanation. Distinguish a rule in the lesson from a supplied value in a practice calculation.

  3. 03

    Review by topic

Return to the lesson behind a missed question. Use cards to recall terms and a printable set to explain the reasoning in your own words.

These are knowledge-study foundations, not behind-the-wheel instruction, a state-approved training program or a guarantee of passing a licensing test. Independent educator review is pending.
