AP Statistics: Exam Guide & Official Sources
Understand the updated exam, arrange registration with a school coordinator, and connect the statistical framework to this foundation pilot.
A fully digital exam
For May 2027, both multiple-choice and free-response work are submitted in Bluebook. Practise writing interpretations as well as making calculations.
- Section I: 42 multiple-choice questions, 90 minutes.
- Section II: 4 free-response questions, 90 minutes.
- Each section contributes half the exam score.
Practice and official assessment are different
These short exercises teach foundational decisions and calculations. They do not replace the official multi-focus free responses or their scoring guidelines.
- Explain the parameter and context.
- Check the conditions of an inference procedure.
- Use a result to justify a claim, rather than reporting a calculator output alone.
The syllabus and your next lesson.
Exploring and collecting data
- Ask statistical questions
- Describe center and position
- Spread and normal models
- Choose a defensible sample
- Design an experiment
- Read a distribution, not just its average
- Repair the data-collection design
Probability and distributions
- Condition on the right group
- Model repeated chance outcomes
- Separate data from statistics
- Compare conditional distributions
- Build and audit a simulation
- Check a binomial model before calculating
- Move between percentiles and measurements
Inference for proportions
- Build and interpret intervals
- Reason from a null model
- Audit the assumptions behind an interval or test
- Write a defensible population claim
- Compare populations with the right uncertainty
- Test a categorical association as an investigation
Inference for means
- Compare groups carefully
- Choose a t procedure from the study design
Regression analysis
- Read a fitted relationship
- Decide what a fitted line can support
Linked lessons cover selected foundations. Use the official syllabus to plan any topics beyond this pilot.

Foundation pilot, not complete AP syllabus coverage or an official exam simulation.
400 variants across 96 families; not independently calibrated item designs.
Practice includes numeric responses as learning exercises; official free responses require statistical reasoning and contextual justification.
No calibrated AP score prediction; independent educator review pending.
Broader inference procedures, authentic multi-focus free responses and full shared-stimulus exam sets need further development.
Exam names belong to their respective owners. Slope is an independent learning project.
