What this collection covers

Selected Version 7 academic foundations across Reading, Mathematics, Science and English and Language Usage. This is not full content coverage, an exam-weighted or full-length mock, an alternate-format simulator, a clinical-care guide or an admissions guarantee. All passages, tables, records and cases are independently authored; no secure ATI items or textbook examples/diagrams are reproduced. Qualified educator review remains pending..

The cards preview selected ideas; they do not measure readiness for the whole examination. Your personal review schedule is available in the review tool.

Author-reviewed learning materials. Independent educator review is pending; question difficulty has not been calibrated with learner results. Check coverage and gaps before planning your preparation.

Sample flashcards, with answers

CARD 01 · Reading

How can you test whether a proposed main-purpose summary adds a stronger claim than a notice supplies?

Answer & explanation

Name the central action and retain the passage’s subject, time and limits. Check each extra claim against words in the original. A review date is not automatically a completion date, and a temporary alternative is not automatically a permanent replacement. A complete answer gives one example of such an unsupported expansion.

Learn: Read claims with their conditions
CARD 02 · Mathematics

Turn a part-to-part ratio into a requested fraction of an additive total. State the assumption.

Answer & explanation

For parts a:b, the shares of the total are a/(a+b) and b/(a+b). Keep the given order and common units. This applies when the exercise establishes that the component amounts add to the total; it is not a universal physical claim about mixed volumes.

Learn: Ratios, percentage bases and units
CARD 03 · Science

In a negative-feedback model, what relationship matters more than the response’s positive or negative numerical sign?

Answer & explanation

The response counteracts the initial deviation from a reference range. Name the detected deviation, controller and response, and show that the response pushes back toward the range. Negative feedback does not mean harmful feedback or a response with a negative numerical value. This is conceptual physiology.

Learn: Feedback and selective movement
CARD 04 · English and language usage

How do you check subject–verb agreement when a plural noun is nearer to the verb than the head subject?

Answer & explanation

Identify the head subject, temporarily set aside its modifying phrase, and match the verb’s number to that head. Check a requested tense separately. A complete answer gives an original singular-head example with an intervening plural noun.

Learn: Edit subject agreement and clause boundaries
CARD 05 · Reading

Explain what a contrast sentence does, and one inference it does not automatically support.

Answer & explanation

It identifies a difference between the stated things or approaches. It does not by itself give a historical cause or recommend one option. A complete recall answer identifies both sides of a contrast and the particular feature compared.

Learn: Connect sentences and integrate a service table
CARD 06 · Mathematics

Explain why a documented correction to the largest of five ordered values can change the mean but leave the median unchanged.

Answer & explanation

The correction changes the sum and therefore the mean. If the ordered middle position and its value remain unchanged, the median stays the same. State that condition: not every correction leaves the median unchanged. An extreme value alone is not proof of an error.

Learn: Summarise and audit numerical records
CARD 07 · Science

Distinguish a manipulated variable, a dependent outcome and a controlled factor in a supplied classroom design.

Answer & explanation

The manipulated variable is deliberately varied; the dependent outcome is what is measured; a controlled factor is held consistent in the stated comparison. A complete answer supplies a measurable outcome with units and a common interval, rather than naming the treatment as the outcome. These roles do not establish a result before data are collected.

Learn: Identify variables and conserve atoms
CARD 08 · English and language usage

Why should you choose a paragraph relation before choosing a transition? Give two competing relations.

Answer & explanation

A transition asserts a relation such as contrast, example, similarity or result. Choose the one the stated ideas and editing instruction support. In contrast signals difference; as a result asserts a causal consequence. A complete answer explains why a grammatical connector can still distort the intended relation.

Learn: Make a paragraph’s relation explicit
CARD 09 · Reading

When combining a closure notice with a service timetable, what conditions should you check for each service?

Answer & explanation

Check the relevant day, time and any explicit closure or exception. A time match cannot repair a day mismatch or reopen an explicitly closed room. A complete answer checks each service separately before combining them.

Learn: Connect sentences and integrate a service table
CARD 10 · Mathematics

How can two different percentages describe the same response count without either arithmetic result being wrong?

Answer & explanation

They can use different stated bases, such as attendees versus all registrants. Identify the requested numerator and denominator, divide, then multiply by 100. A complete answer names two bases and explains why the question determines which one answers it.

Learn: Ratios, percentage bases and units
CARD 11 · Science

How do you predict initial net diffusion when two permeant substances have opposite concentration gradients?

Answer & explanation

Evaluate each substance separately from its own higher concentration toward its lower concentration. Do not combine unlike concentrations. Preserve the permeability and passive-only conditions. At equilibrium individual motion can continue without net directional transfer.

Learn: Feedback and selective movement
CARD 12 · English and language usage

State two standard ways to repair a comma splice and explain why adding however after a comma is not enough.

Answer & explanation

Two independent clauses can be separated by a period or joined by a semicolon; a comma plus a suitable coordinating conjunction is another pattern when allowed. However is not itself a coordinating conjunction. A complete answer identifies the complete clauses before choosing punctuation.

Learn: Edit subject agreement and clause boundaries

Use the cards as a recall routine

  1. Read the prompt and explain your answer before looking below it.
  2. Compare your reasoning with the saved answer, then revisit the linked lesson if a distinction is unclear.
  3. Use the spaced-review tool to schedule another attempt; its personal state stays in your browser.
